For the classroom

A comparison says how much more important one criterion is than another. A criterion is one of the three things being compared.

The three weights come from the three comparisons. They are shares of one whole, so they add up to 100 per cent.

The consistency ratio measures the three comparisons against each other. It is 0 when the three fit together exactly. The further they are from fitting, the larger it gets.
