From Waterfront Station
There is the quickest trip from the start to the place. Back is the quickest trip the other way. They are worked out separately, and they are usually not the same, because hills and one-way streets both run in one direction.
A trip counts as finished once you are within 150 metres of where you were going — you park, or you walk the last bit. Without that rule a pin dropped in a park is unreachable by car, which is true and useless. With it, — means something: the place really cannot be reached that way at all, not merely that you cannot drive onto the grass.
Straight line is the distance as the crow flies. It takes no notice of water, hills or streets, and comparing it with the other two columns is most of what this page is for.
